See How the 2019 Kia Sorento Compares to the Honda Pilot

Three-row crossovers are an excellent option for families who occasionally need an extra row of seating. The Kia Sorento is, without surprise, out favorite three-row model, and we have a ton of them at our dealership. Today, we're going to compare the Kia Sorento to the Honda Pilot.

Interior

  • The Pilot is often called "the closest thing you can get to a minivan, without being a minivan". Ergo, it has a lot more cargo space than the Sorento and most of its competitors. It can also seat up to eight, compared to the seven-passenger Sorento.
  • Spacious vehicles are big, and you'll find that the Sorento is much easier to navigate and turn in tight places, like narrow driveways or in busy cities, than the Pilot.

Performance

  • The first two Sorento trims come standard with 2.4L engine with 185 horsepower. The remaining trims have a 3.3L V6 with 290 horsepower.
  • The only engine the Pilot has is a 3.5L V6 with 280 horsepower - far more than the Sorento's base engine, but weaker than the other. Plus, you need to consider how large the Pilot is in comparison to the Sorento.

Technology

  • All Sorento's come standard with a touchscreen that has Apple CarPlayâ„¢/Android Autoâ„¢ capabilities. The first three-trims have a 7-inch screen and the remaining two have an 8-inch screen.
  • Most Pilot trims have an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlayâ„¢/Android Autoâ„¢, however these technologies aren't available on the base trim.

Safety

  • The Pilot comes standard with Honda Sensing® which includes the following: lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, collision braking system, and forward collision warning. You can also get blind spot monitoring with a cross-traffic monitor.
  • The Sorento's advanced safety features are sprinkled across the lineup, with most being standard starting at the third trim. You'll also get these features that aren't available on the Pilot: stop and go with the adaptive cruise control, a parking distance warning (front and rear), and a driver attention warning.

What's Next?

If you need a lot of space then the Pilot might be a better option, but if that isn't a make-it-or-break-it factor come test drive Sorento. You'll love its easy and nimble handling, standard touchscreen, powerful V6 option, and long list of advanced safety features.
