Let's See How the Kia Sorento Compares to the Hyundai Santa Fe

We stock a lot of Kia Sorento crossovers because shoppers love the flexibility of having three-rows for occasional needs while still getting a vehicle that is easy to maneuver.

There are, of course, other three-row models you can buy or lease, so we're going to compare our Kia Sorento to the Santa Fe XL (which was formally known as the Santa Fe.)

Interior

  • The Sorento's interior is sharp and the dash layout has the right mix of touchscreen features for a modern flair along with buttons for volume and temperature setting ease. The Sorento also has premium Nappa leather on the top trim.
  • The Santa Fe XL may have a new name, but not much has changed. The interior might have been enviable a few moons ago, but now the dash is very dated. The Santa Fe XL also only has two trims to choose from, compared to the Sorento's five options.

Performance

  • The Sorento L and LX trims have a 2.4L engine with 185 horsepower, but the remaining trims have a stronger 3.3L V6 with 290 horsepower. Depending on the engine, you can tow up to 2,000 or 3,500 pounds.
  • Both Santa Fe XL trims have a 3.3L V6 engine that also has 290 horsepower. However, towing tops out at 5,000 pounds.

Technology

  • Road noise can be a pain, especially at high speeds. Some Sorento trims can get an acoustic windshield to help dampen a lot of the irritating sound. The Santa Fe XL doesn't have that underrated but very appreciated tech.
  • It's always nice to have some help when parking a three-row vehicle. Both trims do have standard backup cameras, but on the top Sorento trim you get a Surround View Monitor! That isn't available on the Santa Fe XL.

Safety

  • Starting at the third Sorento trim, you get most advanced safety technologies standard. We love the smart cruise with stop/go, driver attention alert, and forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian detection.
  • The Santa Fe XL also has a fairly strong list of advanced safety technologies, but most are only available with a package on the top trim.

Visit us this week!

The Santa Fe XL does have more towing capabilities and a little more cargo space, but we think you'll prefer having a more modern cabin, better standard advanced safety features, and premium technology. Stop in this week to test drive our the Sorento!
