The 2026 Kia K4 hatchback will offer buyers a compact model that provides a spacious alternative to the stylish Kia K4 sedan. Industry observers have been aware of the new K4 hatchback since the New York auto show last year and now the launch is official. This model will share a number of qualities with the sedan including more cargo space and more versatility. Performance and engine options
The 2026 Kia K4 hatchback will operate with the same standard 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower at the K4 sedan, with power managed by a continuously variable automatic transmission. In addition, it will also offer an available 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 190 horsepower in the top-tier GT-Line Turbo trim. Whether you get the turbo or non-turbo engine, the Kia K4 hatchback will have a sportier suspension system which will presumably be the same multi-link rear axle configuration you find on K4 GT-Line sedans.
Trim levels
The new 2026 Kia K4 hatchback will offer just three trim levels: The EX, the GT-Line and the GT-Line Turbo, and there's expected to be no entry-level LX or LX trim. A Sparkling Yellow exterior paint will be an exclusive offering for the hatchback. It's been reported that the GT-Line trim will have sportier-looking design elements that include 18-inch wheels, black trim and a distinctive steering wheel with paddle shifters. The GT-Lne Turbo will add LED headlights and larger front brakes along with a sunroof.
Exterior highlights
The new 2026 Kia K4 hatchback will be considerably shorter than the sedan, with 11 fewer inches in length and 10.6 fewer inches on GT-Line models, thanks to the more aggressive bumpers. That's substantially more than the sedan that provides 16.4 cubic feet of cargo space. The rest of the new K4 hatchback's interior is apparently identical to the K4 sedan, including the same large screens and the same dashboard layout. The new K4 hatchback will also have a higher level of interior richness then the sedan.
Technology
The new K4 hatchback is expected to come with essentially the same dashboard as the K4 sedan. That means it will include the same digital gauge cluster and central information screen. It's expected that wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ will be standard across the lineup. Standard safety features are expected to include adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
Anticipated pricing levels
According to Car and Driver, the new 2026 Kia K4 hatchback is expected to have a slightly higher price than the sedan, which means the entry-level XL will start at around $25,000 and a top-echelon GT-Line Turbo will have a price of more than $30,000.
